FP&A OVERVIEW
Financial Planning and Analysis
Certified Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Professional certifications
The FP&A credential also sponsored by AFP, establishes a set of core competencies for the corporate financial planning and analysis profession and addresses areas that are not necessarily covered by a traditional degree. It is the only credential that is specific to FP&A; it is forward-looking and assesses the ability to see the big picture. Certified FP&A professionals are specially equipped to mitigate uncertainty and see beyond the numbers; they strive to make the numbers work to determine holistic strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting that ties into the goals of the business.
If you’re interested in a career in corporate finance, the FPAC Credential is the way to go.
By earning the FPAC Credential, you demonstrate expertise and a commitment to:
- Translating corporate and business strategy into a financial plan and supporting the enactment of that plan through the planning process and resource allocation.
- Applying financial expertise to business operations and projections through modelling, scenario/sensitivity analysis, key drivers, KPIs.
- Earning the role of a trusted advisor to the business, based on credibility, partnership, and communication.

I recommend the FPAC all the time. You need this for your own confidence, for the resources you get with it, and because it is something that is a differentiator when you have multiple people all lining up for the same job.
Ashley Merritt, FPACR&D Portfolio Manager
I know that anyone who holds the FPAC designation has the skills I’m looking for when I have an open position on my team. Having the FPAC shows you know what you’re doing, plus it’s a great way to keep up with current trends.
